It's going to be an interesting birthday tomorrow...lunch with my ex, then in the evening it's off to yet another Chorus Niagara event - and this one's a bit special. We've commissioned a new work for next season, and our Artistic Director, Bob Cooper, has just received the first draft. He wants to see what it sounds like so far, so he's put together a small orchestra, and hand-picked a few "strong" singers from the Chorus to take a first stab at sight-singing it. I feel honoured to have been chosen - it's a nice vote of confidence.
It almost makes up for being 3 years shy of 50. Almost...
